Week of November 13

Greetings!

I can't believe the first trimester is behind us! THAT was FAST!!

Report Cards go live today, Monday, November 13th and Parent Teacher Conferences are Thursday and Friday. (Those two days are student holidays)

It's the final fast flying week before Thanksgiving Break and we have so much to be thankful for! I am thankful for many blessings, and AVA is one of them.

This week, we will do some skills review and delve into attacking practical situations in our writing.

Quotes, Commas, Capitalization Rules, etc.

Please don't be too alarmed if student homework is lighter and involves close reading strategies and responding well to what we read.

Hopefully, we will do a little Socratic Discussions in class this week- if so, students will have to prep at home for that the night before.

... I think I have some wishful thinking and lofty goals for those Socratics, we'll see!

Every student should be continuing to read at night for 30 mins and this week is a great week to push that skill at home. Scholastic Book Fair is here and we will be going during our Library time, Monday during Study Skills. Students can also visit anytime during their free time while at school or after school.

Thanks for every bit of support you continue to provide your 6th grader as they advance further into this wonderful world of Middle School English!

See you at conferences!
