Week of April 16th

Poetry Unit is HERE!

I am looking for parent volunteers to help plan and then assist me in class during the week of May 14th for our "Coffee House Poetry Presentations."

Please reach out if you have the time and are interested. It promises to be Groovy!

Caesar Essays are due April 16th. I'd like to say how immensely proud I am of all 6th-grade students! Your perseverance through persuasive writing has been truly beautiful! I'm looking forward to reading all of your essay's about Julius Caesar! Thank you for never giving up, for coming in during your recess, and staying after school to get help when you needed. WAY TO GO kiddos!

This week:

We begin our Coffee House Poetry Unit this week! I'm so excited!!

Most of the week we will be accessing poems in class and then writing poems inspired by class experiences for homework.

Students will create an Interactive Poetry Notebook (a section within their English Binder) to respond to experiences and write poems. This will become an Anthology of Student Poems as a culminating assignment. From this, students will choose a poem to memorize and recite during The Coffee House Presentations, May 16-18th.  Please plan ahead for any vacation schedules as this is a large portion of the student's grade for the unit.

Students should be bringing their Binders home each night to complete poetry homework.

Look for a Poetry Quiz around the middle of Next week.

Most of the class notes and instruction for his unit are done via power point. If you are absent, you will have to get copies of the PowerPoint notes from my GONE FOLDER. I will upload docs as it is possible.
