I am honored to join the Aspen View Academy staff and community. The minute I walked through the front door I knew this was the school for me. I consider myself fortunate to be part of an amazing and dedicated team of professionals who truly put the needs of all students above all else.

My goal for all AVA stakeholders is that you all feel welcome and love coming to Aspen View Academy. Your child should love coming to school every day because they know they will be learning in a safe and caring environment where they know it OK to take chances and to make mistakes. We will have high expectations for our students, but will always provide the resources, tools and support necessary for them to succeed.

This is my 21st year in education, all of which has been spent with schools of choice. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Denver, my teaching certificate from the University of Denver and I received my Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix. I have taught everything from 5th through 8th grades. Each of my previous schools are seen as leaders in the charter school community and we will solidify Aspen View Academy’s reputation as THE school of choice for everyone. I have a proven track record and will never settle for anything except the best. Our stakeholders (parents, students and staff) expect the best and we will provide the best.

I grew up in Connecticut and now live in Castle Rock with my wife, Colleen, who is also a teacher, my son Ryan (senior at Valor), my son Brendan (freshman at Regis) and my daughter Caitlan (proud AVA 7th grader). My oldest son, Christian, is a sophomore in college in Texas.

I look forward to meeting everyone and being your principal for a long time.

I am excited to be a part of the Aspen View Academy team.  There is a positive energy in this building that I see every day in the smiles from students, the warm welcomes from parents, and the enthusiasm from teachers.  I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated and passionate professionals, while partnering with families who are actively invested in the education of their children.

This is my tenth year in education.  I worked and volunteered with learners in areas as diverse as southern California, Buenos Aires, and New York City before relocating to Denver in 2008.  I am a California native and received both my Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education from the University of California Santa Barbara.  I started my career teaching social studies in grades 6 through 10 before transitioning into school leadership.  I have spent the last seven years in Colorado charter schools, and I look forward to applying my combined experience to the continued growth of Aspen View Academy.

As an educational community of students, parents, teachers, and staff we will work together to hold our students to the highest expectations, empower self-advocacy, encourage intellectual curiosity, and shape the next generation of capable leaders and citizens.  I am confident that this will be the first of many great years for our school.

It is my absolute privilege to continue serving the Aspen View Academy staff, students, and community. I have been at AVA since its’ doors opened in 2013. Whether being a middle school math teacher, 5th grade teacher, Math Coordinator, or Assistant Principal, one thing has always held true at AVA; the culture that has been established is one-of-a-kind. I love being a part of a team of dedicated educators who work towards the goal of educating our world’s future leaders.

As the Elementary Assistant Principal, it is my goal that all students enter AVA knowing they will be challenged while learning and growing as individuals in a safe, caring environment. As a servant-leader of the school, I will strive to partner with all stakeholders to make Aspen View Academy the best charter school it can be.

All of my years of education have been spent at charter schools in Colorado. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and my Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Fort Hays State University. I have a passion for educating our youth and am honored to have the opportunity to do that at Aspen View Academy.

I grew up in Falcon, Colorado just East of Colorado Springs. I now live in the Black Forest area on 7 acres with my husband, Sloan, who is my high school sweetheart, and my newborn son Kelan (he was born on 7-17-17). We are enjoying our new life as a family of 3 and can’t wait to watch Kelan learn and grow throughout the years.

I am looking forward to another amazing year at Aspen View Academy!

As I enter my fifth year at Aspen View Academy, I remain grateful to be a part of this wonderful adventure with you. Learning and growth is natural to childhood. Our goal at AVA is to meet natural development with challenge and support, rich content and skill building, and serious joy.

Educating tomorrow’s moms and dads, doctors and teachers, lawyers and entrepreneurs is no small task. Such preparation takes time and attention to all facets of life, academic, social, and emotional. We do not approach the task with levity, but we do approach it with fun. After all, we are not teaching to a test; we are developing lifelong learners, and learning is fun.

I grew up in the panhandle of Florida, a place with plenty of sandy white beaches and southern hospitality. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education Language Arts from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University. I have taught every grade level 5th grade through college and have learned something from each of my students.

My husband, three sons, one daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, and I live in Monument. As we watch our granddaughter experience the firsts of life, we are reminded of the joy that accompanies wonder. My hope is that your child is still experiencing the joy of wonder each day at Aspen View Academy.
