Congratulations to the Spanish students for their  hard work and effort  during the 2nd trimester!
During this month students will be introduced to present tense of  stem-changing verbs: e:ei, o:ue.

Dear Parents:

in our spanish classes we are about to begin unit 4 will cover the theme of Sports and Hobbies (los deportes y pasatiempos). Students will learn about: names of sports and other passtimes, and the date and time for practicing sports.

 Students will be asked to create a presentation of his favorite sport or hobby using the vocabulary learned in class (pg. 150). This presentation will be started and worked on during class. 

This week students will learn the present tense forms of tener (to have ) and venir ( to come).

Tener and venir are two examples of irregular verbs. Although they do not follow the regular rules for conjugation, they have their own unique pattern of conjugation.

Students completed a project over their families, 'La familia'. The students have been learning vocabulary to describe their family members in Spanish. They used their knoledge of the lesson  vocabulary and used necessary grammar to say things about families, then presented their work to the class; while doing this students learned to describe people with adjectives, talking about ages, describing various objects, and disscussing likes and dislikes.

This week students will be introduced to:

- possesive adjectives  - ways of clarifying su (s) when the referent is ambiguous.

Happy New Year! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

This month the students will continue learning vocabulary about 'La familia'. They will start writing descriptions about each family member using common adjectives, also they will learn to answer questions about their own families.

8th grade students will be able to write paragraphs of at least four complete sentences to identify family members, describe physically family members and pets.

 Students have been practicing family vocabulary; also this week students are having fun in classes learning about Winter (Invierno), and Navidad with fun activities like crosswords, crucigramas, and making Holiday Cards.

This week we will start Lesson 3 of Descubre La Familia, students will learn and practice terms for family relationships.

Students will be able to:

  • Talk about family and friends

  • Describe people and things.

2. I can talk about my classes & use prepositions of location with estar.

6. I can form negative sentences.

7. I can use the verb gustar appropriately.

Congratulations! Your student has just finished the First trimester of Middle School Spanish. Please encourage your students to make the most of 2nd term by turning in their work on time and reviewing their vocabulary.

8th Grade students did very well with the use of ser and estar with adjectives!

6th & 7th  Grade students have done a tremendous job in Spanish, and are already using so much vocabulary during classes!

  • The students will practice Present tense of verbs SER and ESTAR (To Be) and the prepositions often used with ESTAR. Text book, pages 59-60.

  • We will also have a brief intro to Mexican Holiday "Día de los Muertos" (Day of the Dead) Spanish classes will wacth the movie El Libro de la Vida / The Book of Life (in spanish).

  For this week/ Para esta semana

6th Graders will be finishing their presentations- Project - Hispanic Heritage Month.

7th & 8th Graders started presenting their countries today, will continue with presentations. This week students will also begin an exploration of verbs, specifically action verbs- verbs conjugation-.

Example: caminar= to walk     yo camino/ ella camina/ nosotros caminamos.

Due to presentations & short week, this week there will not be a quiz  for 7th, 8th graders.

La clase de español 

6th. Graders will not have clase de español Monday-Wednesday due to outdoor Ed. 

This week we are starting Lección 2 En la clase. Students will be able to talk about their classes and school life, discuss every day activities, ask questions in spanish, and describe the location of people and things.

Viernes 22 de Septiembre,  Welcome autumn!

 6th Grade

On Monday students will have the opportunity to use their creativity to present to the class their add "anuncio"; Tuesday they will continue to Study for Unit test-Examen on Leccion 1.  Thursday students will work on the new vocabulary.

7th Grade

Students will review the Unit Leccion 1, the class will go over practice questions and review for test, then continue Lectura, Panorama during Monday and Tuesday. Thursday students will work on the new vocabulary.

8th Grade

This week students will go over practice questions and review for test, continue working on their Spanish Heritage Month Project; Thursday students will work on the new vocabulary.

6th, 7th & 8th Graders

Here are some tips, stuff to keep in mind as you are taking the test:  Read through each question, look at the previous sentence and the sentence that follows when filling the blanks for vocabulary words in a dialogue this usually contain clues about the words you should use.

Check that nouns and adjetives agree in both number and gender.

Once you finished the exam check, reread your answers.

Week Of September 11

First Month of Spanish Class!

6th & 7th Grade 

We have been busy learning our spanish alphabeth, vowels and basic grettings called saludos. This week we will continue learning about telling time: ¿Qué hora es?

8th Grade

The 8th graders reviewed, continued learning - through textbook excersices, in-class review games, and online review book unit 1, Leccion 1; They also will have the test on September 20. 8th graders will continue Lectura this week, also will start on their Spanish Heritage Month Project. 

For the project we have books like The Traveler Book, World Atlas, Acient world, also here are  some websites that can get you started in the right direction

Students, please remember that you must include references, acknowledging another's work within your own;  make sure that you provide the complete information about the source at the end of your work in the form of a list of references or bibliography.

6th, 7th & 8th Grade SPANISH CLASSES:

Test for Leccion 1/ Unit test on September 20

Students will review for the unit test Friday 17, Monday 18 & Tuesday 19.






As middle school students received their laptops this week, our Spanish class is using  supersite (the same program as our textbook),  where students can practice and complete most of their classwork. Students can also view grammar videos, watch the fotonovela, drill vocabulary with flashcards and do extra grammar and listening practice!     VHL supersite will be accessed online at

        Welcome to Spanish Class. I hope you have had a wonderful summer vacation.

To my students: 

I am very excited to be your Spanish teacher this year!

We will meet as class everyday, you will not only learn your vocabulary in Spanish but also learn about all the countries and cultures around the world where Spanish is spoken.

                 This week we will review the syllabus and class procedures, set expectations for the year, work with textbook and play games using expressions from the introductory chapter.
