Dear families -
The weather forecast for this Thursday, December 22 is for extreme cold with highs possibly not going above zero degrees.
In an abundance of caution and safety for our students, parents, and staff, AVA will NOT be having school that day. This will be treated as a severe weather closure and AVA will not have any school activities available that day.
The holiday parties were supposed to be on Thursday and they will now be this Wednesday.
The Douglas County School District already has Thursday as a non-student day so it would be unlikely for them to cancel school due to the extreme cold since the neighborhood school students are already off that day. We are informing you today with the hopes of providing you enough time to adjust schedules if needed.
While it is never ideal to cancel a school day, we must do what is best and safe for the AVA community.
In summary, AVA will have school as scheduled this Monday through Wednesday and the winter break will begin on Thursday, December 22nd.
Thank you!
