Dress of Choice Guidelines
Dress of Choice Guidelines
Aspen View Academy has one Dress of Choice Day each month which typically takes place on the last school-day Friday of month (though not always). Please refer to Event Calendar on the AVA website for exact dates.
Additional Dress of Choice Days may be added to the calendar with the approval of the principal. Some Dress of Choice Days may be “pay to dress”, where students are asked to donate to a school approved cause in order to participate.
Dress of Choice Days are a privilege. This is intended to be an optional, fun opportunity which students earn by adhering to AVA’s Uniform Policy. If a student receives two or more dress code violations in a month, they will lose the privilege of Dress of Choice Day and will be required to wear their school uniform.
Students who have not lost the privilege are invited to participate in a dress of choice day. Students may wear school-appropriate street clothes of their choice to school as long as they follow AVA Dress of Choice (DOC) Guidelines.
The following are the guidelines for DOC Days:
- Clothing must be modest, in good repair, and proper fitting.
- Shorts and skirts must still be no higher than mid-thigh.(No short skirts. No short shorts)
- No reference to drugs, alcohol, gangs, violence, or sex.
- No inappropriate pictures or logos.
- No crop tops - mid sections (stomachs) must be covered.
- No spaghetti straps, tank tops straps must be at least 2” in width.
- No undergarments showing.
- No open toe shoes.
- No pajamas and/or slippers.
- Leggings/Yoga pants only allowed if a long top is worn covering to mid-thigh (front and back).
- Anything that causes a distraction to learning is not permitted.
AVA staff has the final say in determining if an item of clothing is inappropriate. Students may be required to change before continuing with the day’s learning.
