New to AVA » Welcome to Aspen View Academy!

Welcome to Aspen View Academy!

We are so glad that you are a part of our wonderful community. As with any new adventure, there is a lot to learn as you embark on this journey. This page contains helpful links as well as specific information that is communicated to new parents. It’s designed to let you refer back to it for helpful information, or if you enrolled at AVA later in the process, catch up on any information you may have missed.
See the Student Day Info for our school hours. For more information on Delayed Start and Closures, please go here
Go to the Dismissal page to learn about daily dismissal and lightening dismissal.
See the Carpool page for more information on picking up and dropping off your student(s).
School uniforms are an important aspect of ava culture. Uniforms enhance school pride, unity and community spirit and decrease discipline issues. For more information about school uniforms, parents can refer to the Uniform Standards. AVA families have the opportunity to purchase uniform items from three approved vendors—Educational OutfittersFrench Toast and Lands End. Links to the vendor sites can be found on the uniforms webpage
Is your student absent? Please see the Attendance page for information on reporting an absence or go directly to the form
AVA uses multiple communication tools to ensure that parents keep track of all the exciting things happening at Aspen View. Check out the list below for more details about all the ways to stay connected:

  • Our Weekly Newsletter is sent out via email every Thursday during the school year. You can find back issues on our Newsletter page.
  • The Aspen View website is the central hub for news, calendars, policies, teacher webpages, committee webpages and essential quicklinks for absence/attendance reporting, lunch, payments and volunteer management. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the website! The Quicklinks>Parent Quicklinks has all pages listed in alphabetical order.
  • AVA has public Facebook and Instagram pages and post various announcements and pictures throughout the day.
  • Teacher websites, newsletters and blogs ensure you stay abreast of all the happenings inside your student’s classroom. You can find your teacher's page by going to the Staff Directory

NOTE:
AVA sends communications to current parents using the DCSD messaging system. Please make sure your contact information (email, cell phone) are up to date in Infinite Campus.

A lot of our communication to families happens via email. We use the email address listed in Infinite Campus for parents/guardians. If you are not receiving emails from the school, please log in to Infinite Campus and check the email address listed for you. Also, check your Spam/Junk folder to see if our messages are being delivered there by mistake.
To access the lunch menu, go to DCSD Nutrition Services page.

The Douglas County School District (DCSD) opted into the Healthy School Meals for All program for the school year 2024-25. This means that all students will have access to reimbursable meals at their school at no cost. A la carte purchases and doubles will continue to be offered, but students will need to pay for them. These purchases will be charged to the student’s meal account if they have money in their MySchoolBucks account, or the student may pay for the food items with cash.

According to Nutrition Services, lunch is made up of five components—grains, protein, vegetables, fruit and dairy. Students can choose all five components, but to qualify for a reimbursable lunch, students must take three of the five components with at least one of them being a serving of fruits or vegetables.

If you feel it’s appropriate based on your student’s lunch preferences, you’re welcome to fund his/her MySchoolBucks lunch account. Please note, bottled water will no longer be offered for free, but 20 oz water bottles will be available for purchase.

DCSD encourages parents to complete a Free and Reduced Application if they normally would do so. The outcome of the applications is directly tied to District funding. The 2024-25 Free and Reduced Meal Benefits information will be available on the DCSD Nutrition Services website under the Free and Reduced tab.
To learn more about the school lunch program, please see the Nutrition Services website.
Aspen View Academy primarily uses MySchoolBucks to collect payments for student fees, lunch a la carte items and doubles, athletics, electives, field trips, and clubs.
  • If your student is new to AVA (new enrollment or incoming Kindergarten) you MUST first add your student to your MySchoolBucks profile in order to see fees or register for events. In order to do this click the blue menu bar in the top right corner, choose My Students then Add. If you get an error that your student is not found, please try these steps using a desktop computer/laptop rather than your mobile device.
  • The parameters of this system DO NOT allow us to extend enrollment deadlines for any event. You will need to pay special attention to registration deadlines sent to you by your student’s teacher/coach and complete your registrations before the close date.
  • Due to this system being used by all of DCSD, you may see activities from some/all schools in our district.  AVA events will begin with “AVA” in the title.
  • We are finding that the website is more user friendly and strongly recommend that you use the website for all registrations rather than the MySchoolBucks mobile app.

New students should set up an account mid-July.

Infinite Campus is a district-wide application used throughout all schools in Douglas County School District. You can view your student's assignments, grades, class schedule, attendance, and more.

5th grade students and above are taught how to log in to Infinite Campus to check assignments and grades.
Aspen View Academy provides students accounts to Google Workspace for Education. Google includes a suite of web-based programs providing email, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, calendaring, research, and collaboration tools for all AVA students and teachers. Google Workspace is a cloud-based suite, which means it is available at school and at home via the web.

Parents are able to access their students' Google Workspace for Education account at any time. Aspen View uses the same naming convention as DCSD for students: lastname, first initial, middle [email protected]. If you are unsure of your student's username, you can look in Infinite Campus and use the first part of the students' listed DCSD email and add on the @s.avak8.org. Middle School student passwords are always Ava+Student number. Elementary passwords vary by grade.

If you need help accessing your students' account, please email [email protected]
