Our Transition Into Math Curriculum
(Yes that is a play on words)

We often get asked, “What does the board do”? One thing that the board is charged with is approving the curriculum at our school. I thought it would be helpful to understand why we made a change and what that process looked like as it pertains to the new math curriculum.

Why the Change?

The primary reason for this transition is that the Saxon Math curriculum is no longer being developed by its parent company. This posed a challenge for us as we strive to provide our students with the most current and effective educational resources. After careful consideration, we decided to adopt the Into Math curriculum, which is developed by the same company that acquired Saxon Math, through multiple mergers. Into Math offers a modern, comprehensive approach to mathematics education that aligns with our educational goals and standards.

The Decision-Making Process

Making such a significant change to our curriculum was not a decision we took lightly. We believe in a collaborative approach that involves input from various stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for our students. Here’s an overview of the process we followed:

Vendor Evaluation: Our first step was to conduct a thorough evaluation of potential curriculum vendors. We looked at several options, considering factors such as alignment with educational standards, the comprehensiveness of the curriculum, and the support provided for both teachers and students.

Teacher Involvement: Recognizing the critical role that teachers play in the success of any curriculum, we presented the shortlisted vendors to a group of our dedicated teachers. Their insights and feedback were invaluable in assessing the practicality and effectiveness of each option.

Recommendation and Selection: Based on the feedback from our teachers, we made a well-informed recommendation to adopt the Into Math curriculum. This decision was driven by the curriculum’s robust framework, its alignment with our educational philosophy, and the positive reception from our teaching staff.

Benefits of Into Math

The Into Math curriculum brings several benefits to our students and teachers:

Engaging and Interactive: Into Math incorporates interactive and engaging activities that make learning math enjoyable and effective for students.

Comprehensive Support: The curriculum provides extensive resources and support for teachers, enabling them to deliver high-quality instruction.

Alignment with Standards: Into Math is designed to meet current educational standards, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for future academic challenges.

Looking Ahead

We are excited about the transition to Into Math and confident that it will enhance our students’ learning experiences over time. As we implement this new curriculum, we will continue to monitor its effectiveness and make adjustments as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Thank you for your continued support and trust in Aspen View Academy to educate your children.
